HIGHSCHOOL LEADERSHIP TEAM
Team Member
(September 2014 - June 2017)
My role on my high school leadership team through 3 of my 4 years of high school has played a significant role in who I am today. The team consisted of about 30 students from different grades, all with the undeniable ability to lead and inspire people like no other. I was able to grow as both a leader and a person through this team, and found my desire to help others and create a better world.

On this team, we were responsible for creating all events during the year, including things like assemblies, pep rallies, holiday events, carnivals, spirit weeks, donation initiatives, overnight events, and mentorship assemblies/class visits for younger students. Besides everything school related, we also prepared for a school board wide leadership event held every April at Camp Olympia, where we had to prepare cheers, videos, and lip syncs to compete against other schools. Although the competition was extremely fun, the event was focused on the importance of leadership and included many guest speakers and activities to enforce this. My understanding of what a leader is, is the desire to work with and inspire a group of people to accomplish a similar goal. The team does not work for the leader, in fact it’s the opposite; the leader works for the team.

I took this team very seriously and invested a lot of time into every event because I only wanted the best for my school. By the time I reached my final year I had become known as the leadership girl (If they didn’t know me already), and was found hosting all events, making announcements, talking to classes, mentoring youth, and motivating my team when creating new ideas. My passion and desire to always bring the best to the table was allowed to flow freely through all initiatives, giving me the most freedom to grow. I wanted all students to feel proud of the school they went to, and to all feel that they have the freedom to be who they want to be. The members of my team became my family, and I will never forget the ability they gave me to be myself by accepting me for who I am. It was the best!
